Andrew Cronshaw writes, "I'm guessing most people, even those with considerable knowledge of the musics of the world, listening to this CD with no information would have no idea where it's from... These aren’t any kind of scratchy archive recordings; they were made in May 2014, in Taiwan but it’s not clear whether on location or not. They have reverb; its application in ethnic field recordings is sometimes a point of discussion, but here it’s tasteful and effective."
